The Yard Supervisor reports to the Yard Manager and has the authority to carry out responsibilities within approved departmental and Company Policy.
The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for providing superior service, communication, professionalism, teamwork and fairness with those they supervise.

*Enforces Company safety rules inclusive of personal safety compliance.
*Ensure save working conditions and practices are followed in the yard.
*Ensure all operating equipment is in good condition; notifies maintenance supervisor of any problems.
*Overall leadership of Corporate safety plan in areas under direct report inclusive of accident reporting, accident investigation, safety training and related compliance issues.
*Coordinates with Human Resources regarding corrective actions for safety policy violations.
*Reports all accidents to Yard Manager within current workday.
*Submits written accident report and investigation through Corporate designated channels within 24 hours.
*Manage yard and transportation employees under direct report.
*Meet with Yard Manager to review weekly production schedules; inspect completed work and direct changes.
*Train and supervise direct reports.
*Manage truck-loading activities while concurrently managing ferrous production.
*Communicates and coordinates material flow with ferrous customers regarding service, sales, shipments and quality; orders rework if necessary.
*Recommend new methods, procedures and equipment designed to reduce yard operating costs.
*Study staff level and recommend changes necessary to meet production schedules.
*Ensure maximum recovery on material from scrap in the yard consistent with established cost recovery methods.
*Make recommendations regarding upgrading and special scrap preparation.
*Maintain equipment in good order to meet or exceed established up-time goals.
*Prepare equipment downtime reports for productivity analysis.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
*Minimum High School Diploma/GED is required.
*Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum 5 years work experience in scrap business or related field (Trucking, Freight, Industrial) will be considered if no degree.
*Microsoft Office – must be able to use as required by the job.
* Must have good Mechanical aptitude
* Scrap Metals industry experience is required.
